Situated at the end of the road with the same name, this is the only ocean beach of Niterói with calm waters all the time, and approximately 1,000 meters of extension. It is one of the oldest areas, with a fishermen settlement, one church from the beginning of the 18th century, the Archaeology Museum - a contrast to the modern summertime houses. Its name in Tupi language means "water from the middle of the rocks". There are sea food restaurants, and all of them on the beach sand from where you can enjoy the most beautiful sunset in the city. The channel linking Itaipu lagoon with the ocean is the natural limit between Itaipu and Camboinhas beaches.
